Ashburn, VA, October 25, 2015- Mobius sponsored the third annual Sprout 5k event to raise funds and awareness for Sprout Therapeutic Riding and Education Center. The Mobius team consisted of eleven runners one of whom was four year old Alexis Privitera.
"It was hard, but I did it. You have to believe," said four year old Alexis 'Lolly' Privitera, as she proudly displayed her finisher's medal. Born early, Lolly underwent a life-changing spinal surgery two years ago to combat the effects of cerebral palsy. Sprout plays an integral role in Lolly's physical rehabilitation program, and provides an avenue to greatly enhanced confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
"Lolly's experience with Sprout has been transformative," remarked Melaine Privitera, Lolly's mother and CEO of Mobius. "Sprout's equine therapy program is a game changer for its participants. Children with apraxia are uttering their first words, mobility limited individuals experience the sensation of natural, environmentally responsive gait patterns, people can "hike" for the first time in areas otherwise not accessible to them; the list of benefits is remarkable. It is Mobius' privilege and honor to support Sprout in providing uniquely integrated physical, mental, and emotional benefits to its riders."
Held on the grounds of Clyde’s Willow Creek, runners followed a certified 5k course through the neighborhood. Participants attended a medal ceremony and celebrated a successful run with a free postrace party. Overwhelming generosity and support allowed Sprout to raise over $24,000 all of which will be used for the benefit of its riders.
