McLean, VA, May 13, 2017 – Mobius proudly sponsored the 2017 Celebration for Special Children event supporting Jill’s House, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides respite care for families of children with intellectual disabilities.
The 2017 Celebration of Special Children took place in the beautiful ballroom of the Ritz Carlton, Tysons Corner. The event raised over $800,000 for the organization to support their overnight and day programs for children with intellectual disabilities and their siblings. The 465 guests in attendance enjoyed a wonderful cocktail hour, a gourmet dinner, and two special vocal performances by Kaitlyn Maher and Denyce Graves. Guests also enjoyed hearing in-person stories and video presentations of families who have benefited from the life-changing respite that Jill’s House provides.
"Supporting organizations like Jill's House are a core tenant of our corporate philosophy - namely that private companies like Mobius have a pivotal role to play in building the social systems and networks that enable our communities to thrive," remarked Mobius CEO, Melaine Privitera. "Furthermore, my experience in raising three children, including one with special needs, has given me a window into the challenges facing families raising children with significant medical complications. It was truly an honor and blessing to take part in this celebratory event to support Jill's House."
Jill's House is the only organization of its kind in the United States, serving over 740 families. Thanks to the 650,000+ hours of respite care that Jill’s house has provided since opening in 2010, the parents of the children it serves are able to get ahead on work, spend time with their other typically-developing children, work on their marriages, or simply catch-up on sleep.
